Ministry of Road Transport & Highways under Government of India has issued a circular to all traffic police departments, state motor vehicle departments and RTOs to consider all expired vehicle documents to be valid till June 30, 2021.
This is only applicable to all permits, TAX, Registration Fee, fitness certificate related documents along with driving license issue by any Indian RTO or motor vehicle office.
This order is not applicable to any documents which have expired before Corona related lockdown.
Where is the official circular / document / order of the government showing validity extension of driving license, vehicle tax paper, route permits, CF (fitness certificate), smart card or such?
Most of us have already saw this in news but none of the big news websites ever show the actual government order, so here it is, below is the actual circular, which you can download from official website of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
Circular ID :- RT-11036/35/2020-MVL

Insurance Validity or PUC (Pollution Certificate) isn’t included in validity extension
Interestingly, the order doesn’t mention anything about PUC (Pollution under control) certificate. So, vehicle owners may need to get that check done. But the problem is with PUC, if the fitness, tax or registration is showing expired as per RTO database, PUC software may not allow the operator to issue a certificate.
Government circular didn’t clarify on this.
Secondly, insurance is also a document which isn’t included in the list and owners are expected to renew that too.
