Adobe is dropping GPU acceleration support for all Kepler Series Nvidia GPUs from their Creative Suite Applications. This includes the 23.0 versions of Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Character Animator, and Media Encoder.

What is & which are the Nvidia Kepler Series GPU?

Kepler series is a code name for Nvidia consumer end GeForce Graphics cards found in desktop and mobile / laptop / note book computers. These cards are almost 10 years old now, first released in 2012, Nvidia themselves dropped driver support for these cards from 2020 onwards. Some of the cards effected by this are,

What is GPU Acceleration?

Any video editing, rendering or 3D modelling software can use power of GPU for accelerated workflow since GPU is much faster compare to doing this same processing via your CPU. You can read more about the details here at Expiation of Adobe -> https://helpx.adobe.com/in/premiere-elements/using/gpu-acceleration.html

So it is not that the software mentioned here will stop functioning without the support for GPU acceleration.

What should you do?

If you happen to be someone who uses Adobe software and your computer is running any of the above-mentioned Kepler Series Nvidia Graphics Cards or GPU, then there are two things you can do.

Either you buy another modern graphics card or computer with modern graphics card or you do not update your creative suite application to version 23 or higher.

Yes, you may miss out on some new features of new version but your computer (adobe applications) will continue work as they used till version 22.
