Maruti Suzuki Alto 800



Maruti Suzuki holds over 50% market share in the Indian car sales and their cheapest passenger car on sale is Alto 800

Alto 800 STD (base model) variant is priced at Rs. 2,99,800/- ex.showroom, where as after registration and insurance, take home on road price of Maruti’s cheapest car on sale comes at around Rs. 3.40 Lakh in Kolkata. Depending on your location, the prices may vary by few thousands.

Alto 800 STD is powered by a BS6 3 cylinder / 12 valve / 800cc (796) petrol engine with 5 speed manual gearbox. It produces around 48 bhp of power and 69 nm of torque. Alto rides on 145/80-R14 wheel / tyres and comes with A/C too. The cheapest base model is equipped with standard safety features like AirBags, ABS+EBD and rear parking sensors.

Hyundai New Santro



After Maruti Hyundai has the second largest sales figure in India and their cheapest car on sale is the New Santro.

Santro Era Executive 2021 BS6 version priced at around Rs. 4.68 Lakhs ex.showroom and after registration & insurance, the on road take home price comes at around Rs. 5.40 Lakhs in Kolkata.

The New Santro is build on the same exact platform as previous generation i10. It is powered by a 4 cylinder / 16 valve / 1.1L (1086cc) BS6 Petrol engine with 5 speed manual transmission. It produces around 69 bhp of power with 99nm of torque. Santro rides on 155/80-R13 wheels and comes with front disc brakes. It is also equipped with power steering, A/C and mandatory safety features like AirBags, ABS, EBD and rear parking sensors.

TATA Tiago

By market share, TATA is the 3rd largest passenger car maker and off late they have done some wonderful changes to their product line up. TATA Tiago XE is the cheapest car from this Indian manufacturer.



The Base model of TATA Tiago is XE variant and it is available at around Rs. 4.85 Lakh ex.showroom. After registration and insurance, take home price of TATA Tiago XE is around Rs. 5.50 Lakh.

TATA Tiago XE is powered by a 1.2L (1199cc) / BS6 / 3 Cylinder Petrol engine with 86 bhp and 113 nm of torque with 5 speed manual gearbox. Mahindra KUV 100 Nxt

Mahindra is one of the Indian car manufacturer who mainly focuses on SUV type vehicles and their cheapest car on sale is KUV1OO Nxt K2+.

The base model of Mahindra KUV1OO Nxt K2+ Petrol variant is available at around Rs. 6 Lakh ex.showroom. Take home price after registration and insurance is around Rs. 7.10 Lakhs.

KUV100 K2 Plus is powered by a 1.2L (1186cc) / Dual VVT / 3 Cylinder / DOHC / 12 Valve / BS6 Petrol engine producing around 82bhp of power and 115nm of torque with 5 speed manual gearbox. The car comes with excellent headroom, A/C, Power Steering and it is a six seater. Kia Sonet

Kia is a sister concern of Hyundai and their products share chassis, platform, engine & other key components with Hyundai cars. The cheapest Kia model in India is Kia Sonet HTE 1.2.



The base variant of Sonet HTE model is priced at around Rs. 6.80 Lakhs ex.showroom and after registration and insurance, the take home on road price is approximately 7.70 Lakhs.

Kia Sonet is a sub-4 meter compact SUV or C-SUV. It is powered by a 1.2L (1197cc) / 4 Cylinder / 16 Valve / BS6 Petrol engine with 82bhp or power and 115nm of torque with 5 speed manual gearbox. After discontinuation of Honda Brio hatchback, the cheapest car from Honda in India is second generation Honda Amaze E variant.



Ex.showroom price of Amaze E Grade is around Rs. 6.25 Lakhs and after registration and insurance, the on road take of price is approximately Rs. 7.15 Lakhs.

Honda Amaze E variant is powered by a 1.2L (1198cc) / 4 Cylinder / SOHC / 16 Valve / i-VTEC BS6 Petrol engine producing around 90bhp of power and 110nm of torque with 5 speed manual gearbox. Toyota Glanza / Yaris

Deciding the cheapest car from Toyota is bit tricky. Since if you just take price into account then Glanza G MT version is the cheapest Toyota on sale in India.



Glanza G MT priced at around Rs. 7.20 Lakhs ex showrom and after registration & insurance, take home on road price is around 8.10 Lakhs.

However, Glanza isn’t a Toyota car, it is the same exact car as Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Even the car is made by Maruti with different badge and powered by the Suzuki K12 series 1.2L (1197cc) / 4 Cylinder / DOHC / Dual VVT / 16 Valve engine with around 83bhp and 110nm of torque with 5 speed manual gearbox. The Cheapest Ford model in India is the second generation Ford Figo Ambiente Petrol version.

MG is a Chinese car maker and their cheapest model on sale is MG Hector Style 1.5 Petrol. The car is known as Baojun 530 in their home country but in India, they are using a British branding.



It is priced around Rs. 12.90 Lakhs ex showroom and Rs. 14.50 Lakhs take home on road price after registration & insurance.

MG Hector is a large SUV and the base model is powered by a 1.5L (1451cc) / 4 cylinder / turbo charged BS6 Petrol engine producing 141bhp & 250nm of torque with 6 speed manual gearbox. The car gets 215/60-R17 wheels and many more features along with mandatory safety kit.

The cheapest car from Nissan in India is their new Sub 4 Meter Compact SUV (C-SUV) Magnite MT XE Base model.
